EDINBURGH EVENING

Edinburgh Piper

On our second evening in Scotland, we attended a dinner theater in Edinburgh with our tour group.  It was a great opportunity to get to know our fellow travelers and also provided a prime chance to sample haggis, a savory pudding containing sheep heart, liver, and lungs that is actually cooked inside the sheep stomach and served with crackers.  Doug, a much braver soul than I when it comes to tasting unusual cuisine, eagerly joined in to try the delicacy, but I chose to just enjoy watching others.  Toward the end of the Scottish entertainment which included much piping and dance, Doug was one of several chosen from the large crowd to go up on stage and learn how to dance the Highland Fling with some attractive young lassies.  I’m guessing that was his reward for suffering through the haggis experience earlier!
