Yesterday we enjoyed Salzburg, so far one of our favorite places on this trip! Famous for two things…Mozart and the setting for “The Sound of Music.” This morning we visited Hitler’s Eagles’ Nest, located 6000 feet high atop a mountain just outside the city. This was where he and his Nazi colleagues planned the atrocities they carried out during World War II. It was a sobering reminder of one of the worst times in history and yet, at the same time, a refreshing and awesome view of some incredible Austrian countryside. On this morning’s excursion, we also saw the high meadow where Julie Andrews sings the theme song of her famous musical as well as the gazebo, convent, and church where she and Von Trapp were married. I found that exciting! 😃
