For the past 10 years or so we have come to Prince Edward Island in late August. Sultry hot weather can be interspersed with cool and blustery periods, so we are certain to see the lights of John Deere tractors working late into the night to finish baling straw before the next rainy period. Marcy and I have said that PEI is not for everyone. Whether arriving by car ferry at Wood Islands or the 9-mile Confederation Bridge at Borden-Carleton, you will be met with potato fields as far as the eye can see. There are a lot of diamonds to be found here but you have to look for them, otherwise, you might just shrug and say this place looks like anywhere back home in the US Midwest.
