WINTER IN THE ROCKIES

RMNP-EndofRoad

Over the next few days, I hope to unpack the good reasons for the very long hiatus from blogging.  But for the time being, I’ll pretend that I have been here all along and I’ll just jump into the story of our winter trip to Colorado.

Marcy wanted to get some winter images, so we figured that we’d try Rocky Mountain National Park with accommodations set for Estes Park Colorado.  I will confess that I was very anxious about driving around the high Rockies in the middle of January.  Our son and daughter-in-law talked about the harrowing roads they encountered here last summer, so I worried about how it would be in the Winter.  We reserved the usual Chevy Cruze-class sedan from Hertz, but that would have probably been the driving disaster I worried about.  Instead, we were able to select this perfect little 4WD drive Ford EcoSport that transported us along snowy, slippery, mountain roads with no problem at all.  We are just now on day one of our trip and so far so good.  Meanwhile, we are the only souls to be found up here on our late afternoon check-out of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Oh! We will. Yesterday went from sunny and calm to instant blizzard at times.
