The Majestic B&B in Leadville, Colorado has now taken first place as the “Most Cozy” stay we have ever experienced. I won’t catalog the other great experiences we’ve had, but this one took me quite by surprise.
I confess that I associated the name “Leadville” with a place that was gray, gritty and unattractive, but our son and his family were here last summer for the Leadville 50-mile run and they loved it. Based on their experience, we figured we would check out the town. Read our previous post about the bit of struggle getting here, but once we arrived, we considered the place to be Norman Rockwell-like.
We took a different route out via US 24, a story I want to blog about later because the route was a beautiful, easy drive with clear roads and great views of several “fourteeners” (mountains above 14,000 feet).
But back to Leadville, the cold didn’t seem so bad. Perhaps it was the low humidity and still air, but we were not deterred from walking all around town snapping pictures — I usually include just one large-format picture with a blog post, but today I included a whole gallery of some shots we captured, including some shots of our room (“The Parlor”) with its nice open gas fireplace and reading nook. – Enjoy the scenes of Leadville below.
