Charleston South Carolina’s Waterfront Park opened in 1990, the year after Hurricane Hugo ravaged the region, and has won awards for its design. A focus point of this park is the Pineapple Fountain. The Pineapple seems a great choice for a fountain motif, considering that it is considered a symbol of hospitality and is found integrated into the local wrought iron railings, and is often paired as entryway adornments.
This is one of those images that so very many photographers capture, but I wanted to give it a try. I love this view because there was an opportunity to get almost absolute symmetry from the background buildings and trees. I will probably put this one up in our gallery after some final cleanup. (The picture was shot with the shutter open for 30 seconds, so it blurs motion, but see if you can find the ghost image of Marcy with her tripod in the background).
